Polycarbonate Lenses are the most-used alternative material for modern optic lenses. They are 10 times more impact resistant than plastic lenses, and 35% lighter and thinner than standard plastic lenses.
Polycarbonate was the first plastic high index lens and still has one of the highest index ratings (1.59). Originally used primarily for industrial safety glasses, they are now used for children, sports wear, or anyone requesting greater impact resistance in their lenses.
For more on these options, you can look for detailed information on the lens selection page or give on of our expert opticians a call.
