QUICK SEARCH – When You Know What You Want
When any of us need eyewear, we fall into one of two groups. Either we know exactly what we want or we want to go shopping around a little bit. At FramesDirect.com we make it easy for both groups. So, if you know exactly what you want, here’s what you do.
OK, so the first thing we’re going to do is go up into the search bar and type in exactly what we’re looking for, which in this case is Ray-Ban Wayfarer, because they’re cool and so are we. Then click the search button. Then, suddenly, boom, you’re looking at tons of Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Some other cool features. You can sort by best sellers and a couple of other factors, price being one. You can select how many products you want to see on one page or even go to the next page if one is available. In addition to that, in the side bar there are tons of really cool features that allow to sort even further, but we’ll get into those a little bit later. Right now we know exactly what we want.
So, we’re going to click this RB2140, and that was incredibly simple. But, it gets even more simple. Let’s say you know that you want the RB2140 specifically. Well, you can go search just for that specific product. Then, before you know it, you’re only looking at the 2140. Displayed we have plano sun (plano means non-prescription) and prescription sun.
Another way you can find what you are looking for is to simply use the brand drop-down. We’ve got eye, sun, prescription sun and contact lenses. In this case, we’re going to find Ray-Ban in the sunglasses drop down. And now we’re looking at the Ray-Ban catalog which shows us all of Ray-Ban’s products. But since we’re looking for the RB2140, we can just select the product list and find the Ray-Ban 2140′ click it and, boom, we have found exactly what we are looking for. It’s really that simple.
SHOP/BROWSE – When You Want to See Choices
Now, if you’re not sure of exactly what you are looking for and would like to go shopping around a little bit, you’re going to fall into one of three categories – Eyeglasses with Prescription Lenses, Sunglasses or Prescription Sunglasses.
Now, let’s get started with Eyeglasses with Prescription Lenses. So, the first thing you should know is that our in-house product team experts have already done a lot of the work for you. Our site’s massive. We offer a ton of products, but we’ve already gone through and picked out the best of the best, so any time you’re searching the site and refining products and getting results, you know that those are top quality products and you’re really going to get the best value for your money.
So, if we’re looking for prescription eyeglasses, the best place to start is in the left nav. You just hover over “Eyeglasses” and then we’ll decide what gender we want to find. In this case, let’s shop for women. So, now I have come to the Women’s Prescription Eyeglasses page and you can see tons of products. I can sort by best sellers, price or brand name. I can determine how many products I want to see on the page or I can see subsequent pages. The real power of this page and almost every page of the website is in the left nav in the refine tool. This tool let’s you pick and choose very precise parameters by which to refine the eyewear selection so that you really wind up with a small subset of eyewear that is exactly what you are looking for.
So, let’s take a quick look at this from the top down. We’ve got a price range selector, so you can set a minimum low and a maximum high to stick within your budget. You can select one or several different brand names. We have frame size. If you know the size of the frame you are looking for, you can refine by that and if you’re not sure what your frame size is, we have helpful little pop-ups that tell you exactly where those measurements come from. You can find frame type – full rimmed, semi-rimless or rimless, frame material – metal, plastic, etc. You can sort by frame color, find frame style if you are looking for round, aviator or wayfarer style, etc. And your prescription type – some frames are better for single vision, some for bi-focal or progressive, so if you know which one you want, you can jump to those immediately. Facial features – do you have an oval face, square face? We’ve sorted those so that based on your face shape, the eyewear you see is going to look ideal on you. And the section of “Used for” is primarily fashion for eyeglasses. This will come in much more handy for the sunglasses department.
So, let’s go ahead and pick a frame. I think this one looks good (Ray-Ban RX RX5226). If I were a woman, I would certainly wear this every day of my life. So, here we are on the product page and there are a couple of options we have. One is size. In this case, there is only one, but some frames offer multiple sizes, which you would need to choose and, again, we have little helpful pop-ups that give you some detail or there’s even a more involved pop-up that has a video of founder Dr. Dhavid Cooper and lots of other information. We’ll also need to pick the color of the frame. We can do that in one of two places – down below where you select the color and see the main product image changing with your selection or we can also select the color from the dropdown. And, so, that’s pretty much it on this page. Now the only two options we have are to checkout with frames on (with no lenses) or to checkout with lenses.
Now, you really should know that we don’t joke around when it comes to lenses. The lenses you get from FramesDirect.com are the most precise and the most accurate in the world. We pioneered making lenses online, so, not only will you get the best product, you’re guaranteed that it will be accurate and you shouldn’t worry about whether you enter information correctly in the process of selecting lenses because every order is looked at by a certified optician and if there are any doubts that anything was entered incorrectly, you will be contacted and we’ll get it worked out. We’ll contact your doctor or we’ll contact you.
To shop for sunglasses, let’s go over to the left nav and in the sunglasses section we’ll select our gender. I’ll choose men. Now, the best thing to do when shopping for sunglasses is to determine what you want to use your sunglasses for and we can do that by scrolling down and going to the refine tool in the left nav. And, let’s say I want to choose sunglasses for fishing. I select “fishing” and I am now looking at sunglasses that are recommended by the manufacturer and
our own product experts as being the best for fishing. And, I’ll just select this Maui Jim Stingray here and on the product page there are a couple more options that I can select. One is the size. In this case, there’s only one, but some sunglasses have multiple sizes to chose from. And I can choose a color from the dropdown or from the icons below the main product image. Once I select my color and my size, I simply “Add to Cart” and that’s all there is to it.
Hey, let’s go shopping for some Prescription Sunglasses. Start in the left nav and select gender. I’m choosing men and just like with plano sunglasses, the best place to start is to determine what you want to use them for, and we can select that again in the left nav refine tool. Let’s say that we want to play some golf. Now we have the best recommended products by the manufacturer and our own experts for playing golf. And, I’m going to select these Oakley Halfjacket 2.0 RX Sunglasses. They look pretty cool. I bet I could sink a few holes in one with these. And now on the product page, I can click a pop-up and get specific information about Oakley prescription sunglasses lenses and then I can scroll down and enter my prescription information, select color and my size. Enter those, click “Continue” and you’re on your way. Be aware that manufacturers do set some limits on prescription sunglasses where your prescription might not work. So, I entered one that I know won’t work so that you can see what happens. You’ll get a pop-up that says “Hey, please give us a call.” And the reason for that is that even though your prescription might not work with this particular pair, there is probably another pair that will not only work with your prescription, but still be ideal for what you want it for, whether it’s fishing or golf or anything else. So, if you get this pop-up, don’t be worried. Just give us a call and we can walk through the entire process and make sure you get exactly what you are looking for in the end.
If you’re looking for contact lenses, that’s super easy. Just use the dropdown, find the brand you wear, fill out the details and “Add to Cart.”
I’ve enjoyed this time with you showing you how to use the site. Now, head on back to the FramesDirect.com home page and start shopping. And remember, if you need any help, don’t hesitate to call. Now what do we say? Wait for it …
